Hub regional Jumpstart grantsmanship training workshops move to virtual learning environment!

The March regional workshops at Hunter College (New York) EDP University (Puerto Rico), and Miami Dade College (Florida), that were cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic have been redesigned as an online community learning experience. Workshop leaders Minerva Cordero (UTA) and Elba Serrano (NMSU) will offer the workshops to the registered participants as 2 day sessions scheduled for May 14/28 (Cohort 1) and May 15/29 (Cohort 2).

Description

Our 2020 Jumpstart workshops provide basic insight and instruction on how to compete for NSF funding.  The workshop prepares attendees to submit applications to the NSF HSI Initiative call NSF 19-540 (https://www.nsf.gov/pubs/2019/nsf19540/nsf19540.htm)

The workshop content prepares attendees to submit applications to the NSF HSI Initiative solicitation NSF 19‐540 that seeks to increase grant support for STEM Education in Hispanic Serving Institutions (due date third Wednesday in September, annually). During the event, participants will have a unique opportunity to seek advice from successful grant applicants, to direct questions to experienced and knowledgeable grant awardees, and to analyze a sample proposal to learn the elements of a grant proposal. avoid.

Intended Audience

The workshops are open to anyone interested in applying for the NSF HSI Initiative call NSF 19-540. Preference is for applicants who are (1) from 2-year and 4-year HSIs with limited prior NSF support (2) faculty within their first 10 years of academic appointment, and (3) those who seek to collaborate on applications with these institutions.

Details

Cost:  There are no fees to attend. Applicants whose home institution is more than 50 miles from the workshop location will be eligible to apply for stipends to offset the cost of attendance (maximum 15 per workshop).

  • For early decision apply by February 14, 2020; final deadline to apply: March 1, 2020. Update Feb 14: Early decision deadline extended to February 18, 2020.

  • Prepare to submit your application using this document. Workshops are being added weekly so do not worry if your workshop is not listed on the form.  It is posted in the online application. Applicants are encouraged to upload a brief letter of institutional support with their application.

All workshop events will be held at: Activities Room (Salón de Actos)
When you enter the lobby, please announce yourself to the Receptionist. An escort will have your name on file and will direct you to the appropriate elevator. On the fifth floor, another escort will direct you to the Activities Room Registration Table.
